Is $0.02 Really that Much Money?
ALLOFMP3 is raising their prices to $0.02 per MB, which will make them still the cheapest place to legally buy MP3s.
The new prices begin on Jan. 15. Like I said, $0.02 per MB. So the average song will now cost $0.06 to $0.10 instead of $0.03 to $0.05.
It's not the end of the world, but I couldn't tell. The site has been getting hammered this past week as people rush to buy as much music as possible before the price goes up.
Not only that, but the site (as evidenced by my affiliate links) is getting double as many new members per week, as people rush to sign up before the switch.
I wonder if ALLOFMP3 realized how big of a marketing coup this would turn into. Could they imagine that their customers would care so much about a penny? Either way, ALLOFMP3 would do best to push off the deadline until Jan. 30 or so to take advantage of this current glut of orders.
I tried to buy some music this month but gave up becuase the site has become so slooooowwww. ALLOFMP3 is giving a 10% Holiday Bonus to all orders so I guess that helps drive traffic too. And ALLOFMP3 Gift Certificates probably make good Christmas Presents (better than 10 songs on iTunes).
